Gee's Bend, The Architecture of the Quilt is on display at the Denver Art Museum through July 6, 2008. An interesting exhibit of quilts from a remote and poor location in Alabama. These pages in my sketchbook were inspired by some of the patterns in the quilts. The pattern on the left was influenced by the columns of the newspapers that served as wallpaper in the artists' homes.
Last week I visited the Denver Art Museum's Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism exhibit. I was especially inspired by the quotes on the wall from a variety of impressionist artists, so I wrote them all down along with some quick sketches from some of my favorite pieces in the exhibit.
