This was drawn over the course of several afternoons during my stay at the La Romita Art School in Terni, Italy.
This building was a chapel when the facility was a monastery and it is now an art studio classroom. The stucco wall glowed in the afternoon sun and I loved the color.
I love the work by this Chapungu artist, Dominic Benhura and Lazarus Takawira. The sketches were a good way to remember the pieces. This is one of the Moleskine spreads published in the 1000 Artist Journal Pages book.
I sketched this in 2006 from an outside balcony area at the Mara Simba lodge in Kenya. These monkeys were just across the river playing in the dead branches. This is one of the Moleskine spreads published in the 1000 Artist Journal Pages book.
