Masai Warriors
These individuals are Masai warriors drawn from life at the Masai village. The Masai men tend to be quite tall and are fond of wearing red to keep animals (like lions) at bay. Some of the warriors wear wigs that look very much like real hair, but are made of yarn. The individual on the right of the page was wearing a wig like this one with a decoration on the front.

Masai Inspiration from Kenya
The figure on the left was drawn from life at the Masai Village in Kenya. The other Masai images on the page are inspired from paintings at the Methodist Guest House in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Masai Village, Masa Mara, Kenya
One of the biggest highlights of my last trip to Kenya was visiting the
Masai Village and sketching the warriors in their traditional attire.
As always when I sit down to sketch, people will approach, watch and
then visit with me about what I am sketching. This was no different
with the people of the Masai and our wonderful drivers while on safari.
Sketching is a wonderful icebreaker and the perfect remembrance of time
spent in a particular location.
