This sketch was done from the church yard at Mulathankari Emmanuel Methodist Church in Meru, Kenya. The building is not the sanctuary, but Sunday school rooms which have no electricity, and dirt walls and floors.
A medical camp was held during our stay and this building was transformed into four medical exam rooms (with limited electricity) for the purpose of providing health care for over 750 people.
It is this building and the yard of the Mulathankari Church that for me defines this location's Genius Loci, or spirit of place.
I am in the process of writing a speech to present about our time spent in Kenya. I googled Mulathankari and this is the first site that came up. How cool is that. What a beautiful sketch. It warms my heart to see it, so thank you for sharing it on the web. Blessings,
