This watercolor sketch was completed last Friday after lunch at Artist Point, in Yellowstone National Park. The day was a bit breezy with cool temps in the 60s and there were lots of activity, tour groups, onlookers, etc. A great day to sketch one of my favorite places!
It is that time of year again, when I take my sketchbook class out to everyday normal places to draw. Last week we went to the grocery store and it is always one of my favorite places to draw. Here is what was in the deli and most likely someone's (not mine) lunch. It was a smoked turkey, cheese, lettuce on sour dough with some type of sprinkles on the cheese. If you know what the sprinkles were, please comment. I am curious.
A poster I designed and illustrated for this month's Wednesday
night drawing sessions in September. For the remainder of September, every
Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 there will be free drawing sessions for Mesa State
College students, faculty or anyone interested in drawing live costumed performers. Come join us!
Another sketch from last Sunday afternoon of some cabins
nestled in the trees on the shore of a lake up on the Grand Mesa. This one was
fun to do as I used my speed sketching technique, grey markers for adding quick
value and watercolor for fast color. I just had to add color, since it was the
color of the cabins against the green of the trees that enticed me to sketch it
in the first place.
