Happy Halloween

Here is a recent watercolor sketch of a gourd pumpkin, a gourd crossed with a pumpkin. This is one of my favorites for sketching from the pumpkin patch this time of year.

Piña Colada

Here is another sketch from a trip to Safeway during my sketchbook course. It makes me thirsty for my favorite Jamba Juice smoothie (although they quit making them).

Cross Orchards Historic Site

I did this little pen and ink and watercolor sketch last month at the Cross Orchards Historic Site (it's a farm) with my sketchbook class.

View from the Tower, Museum of the West

This is one of the views from the tower atop the Museum of the West in downtown Grand Junction, Colorado. The particular view is looking west towards the Colorado National Monument.

Madison River Valley, Yellowstone National Park

This was the last watercolor sketch I did in the park on my way to the West Yellowstone Airport to catch a flight back home. I love the loose quality of the marks and brush strokes after non-stop sketching for a long weekend. The location is west of Madison Junction and was done at a pullout next to the Madison River on an early fall morning.

Liberty Cap Spread of Studies

Liberty Cap • Mammoth, Yellowstone National Park

I spent a couple of nights at Mammoth last month and did this late evening study of Liberty Cap while listening and watching the elk rut.

Lower Falls View From Inspiration Point

This sketch of Lower Falls was done on a beautiful, breezy Sunday morning from Inspiration Point in Yellowstone National Park.

View From Old Faithful Lodge Porch

This was my view on a beautiful September evening as I sat on the Old Faithful Lodge porch with my sketchbook and watercolors. (The mountains and sky were done in colored pencil.) It was wonderful experience to visit Yellowstone as nature prepares her for the upcoming winter.

Today is closing day for the The Grand Old Lady and she will sleep for the winter while waiting for her new visitors next spring.
