When school started up last August, I had to use a new parking lot since the old one was now part of a new construction project. When I pulled in that first morning, I saw this beautiful lime green frame house glowing in the sun beyond a really dilapidated old wood fence. I knew as soon as I saw it, that I had to capture that light at that moment.
Black Sand Basin was the location of my last sketch from my 2014 trip to Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. It was very cloudy and very rainy that day last August. This sketch was completed from beginning to end while sitting in the driver's seat of my rental car. (proving that it is always a good day for sketching!)
I drew this on a cool partly cloudy day last August at the Nez Perc Ford picnic area in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The buffalo were in rut and the sounds of the day are still in my head from that afternoon of sitting in my car. (It would not have been safe on the outside.) After the sketch I went and ate a nice supper at Lake Hotel for my birthday.
This page represents a new activity that I have been experimenting with in my never-ending quest to document my experience. It is a measured sketch/room plan of Cabin 8 at Lamar Buffalo Ranch in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
...another demo from Yellowstone National Park last summer. This one was done at Lost Lake, which is an easy hike from the trail head at the Petrified Rock parking lot. It has great places to sit in the morning under the shade of trees looking down towards the lake.
...a miscellaneous page from last summer in Yellowstone National Park. Top left is Druid Peak before some fog rolled in, top right is a rubber stamp design I did for the Lamar Ranch Yellowstone Association store and the sketch is a demo at Tower Creek I did for my class.
