Welcome to sketchingspirit. This sketchblog is a place where I post images from my sketchbooks, journals, and paintings. Plus a few random thoughts, ideas and other inspirations as they cross my path.
This is another sketch done from the boardwalks at the Old Faithful area. In this sketch you can see Old Faithful erupting and Old Faithful Lodge in the background.
I love to include architectural elements that define a specific place/location in my sketches. This is the rooftop of the visitor center at Old Faithful which has a very distinct appearance.
The rains subsided for a bit and the next few sketches were drawn while sitting on the boardwalks at Old Faithful Upper Geyser Basin. This is the Fire Hole River with several thermal features throwing off lots of steam.
A closer look at page 9 from Sketchbook #55. Rain was the theme of the day it seemed and it started pouring when I walked over to the Old Faithful Lodge. I waited it out in the lobby area at one of the desks that sits in front of a window and sketched this view. There were lots more people outside, but I used some artistic license and only sketched part of the crowd.
The inspiration (Lower Falls, Yellowstone National Park) and the sketch as it was drying. This is one of my favorite sketches from the trip and is still one of my favorite places to sketch.
